An apprenticeship is an excellent way of gaining an academic qualification in conjunction with work experience. Our award-winning advanced apprenticeships are a fantastic alternative to university, allowing you to enter the world of work and and earn as you learn.

If you’ve completed your GCSEs, AS, A-levels or equivalent qualifications and are wondering what to do next, find out what we could offer you on one of our apprenticeship schemes.

At Mott MacDonald we recognise that investing in the development of emerging talent is vital, not only for contributing towards our future company success but to allow you to fulfil your own aspirations. We are therefore proud to offer 2 fully supported apprenticeships, which have been approved and are directly linked to a professional qualification. All our schemes are supported by a qualified mentor and have scope for progression for apprentices who demonstrate the required aptitude and commitment.

In addition to this, our apprentices can choose to get involved with the following:

    • Become a STEMNET Ambassador and promote engineering to young people
    • Links with RedR, Engineers Without Borders UK, Engineers for Overseas Development
    • Involvement in the Mott MacDonald Corporate Social Responsibility initiative
    • Attend and arrange lunchtime workshops and training sessions
    • Get involved with the Sports and Social Committee
    • Enter and win internal and external awards!

You are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available within Mott MacDonald and to drive your own development.

We offer 2 structured and fully supported development schemes for apprentices:

    1. Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering for Technicians
    2. Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering for Technicians

    What can I expect?

An apprenticeship is a programme which combines a fully funded college course with work based experience. It is a way for you to earn a salary whilst completing a qualification. The Mott MacDonald apprenticeship programmes are between 2-3 years and are managed on a day release basis. You will attend a local college one day per week and will spend the other four days in the workplace gaining professional experience. On completion of the programme you will apply for professional membership with your chosen institution at either EngTech (1 or 2).

Our apprenticeships are only available in locations where we have college provision. These will be listed when we are recruiting for our schemes as new locations are continuing to be added across the UK.

All apprentices are invited to attend a two day residential training event in the Lake District as part of their induction into the company.

What support will be available during my apprenticeship?

All apprentices are allocated a line manager, mentor and buddy to support their development whilst on the programme. A dedicated graduate and apprentice team is also on hand to answer any questions and provide additional support.

    What makes these apprenticeships different?

These apprenticeships have been designed by employers and are mapped directly across to the relevant professional body. On completion of our apprenticeships you will be able to apply for professional membership with one of the following institutions, having achieved a qualification that is an internationally recognised benchmark of competence.

    1. The Institution of Civil Engineers (EngTech)
    2. The Institution of Building Services Engineers (EngTech)
