The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) will fill a critical gap in the ecosystem for graphene and 2D material research, development and application in the UK. The University’s second world-class multi-million pound graphene-focused centre will see industry-led development in applications through partnership with academics.

Due for completion in 2017, the £60m GEIC will be an international research and technology facility. The GEIC will offer the UK the unique opportunity to establish a leading role in disruptive technology that spans a number of industrial sectors. The GEIC will focus on pilot production and characterisation.

Areas of application development will include:

  • Composites and coatings
  • Energy
  • Electronics
  • Membranes
